It was in mid-June under a glorious blue sky when VERBUND and Salzburg AG celebrated the official inauguration of their new joint power plant in the Gries district of the city of Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse.
End of last year’s October, the modernised Dießbach hydro power plant in Salzburg was ceremoniously opened. After a construction period of 1.5 years, Salzburg AG was able to officially restart operating the plant.
With an installed capacity of 104 MW, pumped-storage power plant Hintermuhr in Lungau is the largest one operated by Salzburg AG. It was initially put into operation in 1991 and fitted with a pump turbine in 2008.
The Sohlstufe Lehen power plant, a run-of-the-river power plant in the northern part of the city of Salzburg, is to be commissioned soon. The two generators with a weight of 37 tons are the core pieces of the new plant.
